Precautionary recall of Feta & Hummus Salad, Cream Cheese Bagel and Chicken BBQ Bagel

We have been informed by our supplier that Listeria was detected in a sample of fresh red onions supplied to us. These red onions were used as an ingredient in our pickled red onions. Therefore, we cannot rule out the possibility that Listeria may also have been present in the pickled red onions used by us.
Affected products and Coffee Shops
The recall affects Feta & Hummus Salad, Cream Cheese Bagel and Chicken BBQ Bagel sold between 25.09. and 30.09.2026 at the following Coffee Shops:
- Espresso House Babelsberger Str. 16, Potsdam
- Espresso House Obernstraße 18–20, Bremen
- Espresso House Alstertor 1, Hamburg
- Espresso House Mittelweg 130, Hamburg
- Espresso House Heegbarg 28, Hamburg
- Espresso House Am Bahnhof 6, Lübeck
- Espresso House Krüsistraße 7, Hamburg
Possible symptoms
Certain bacteria of the genus Listeria can cause illness. Possible symptoms include fever, flu-like symptoms, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
What should you do?
If you have consumed one of the affected products and subsequently develop any of these symptoms, please contact a doctor and inform them about the possible exposure to Listeria.
Pregnant women, elderly people and people with a weakened immune system should seek medical advice even if they do not have any symptoms.
What measures have we taken?
We have immediately stopped selling the affected products, removed all remaining affected products from the Coffee Shops and informed the responsible food safety authority. The products listed above are now prepared and sold exclusively with newly delivered pickled onions.
We regret this incident and apologise to our guests for any inconvenience caused.
