Barista, what is it like?

Meet Gian-Luca

Barista

What are your everyday tasks?

- In the morning at the beginning of the opening, I prepare the store for our guests. I set up the guest room and, together with my colleague, ensure a delicious presentation of our fresh snacks and sweets. The store opens, I welcome our guests and prepare their drinks. In addition to serving our guests, I assist colleagues, make sure we have enough supplies at our various stations and a clean guest room. What I love most is working on the espresso machine! Frothing milk, pouring latte art and creating a smile in the guest’s face is my favorite part of the job. I end the day by handing over to the next shift or closing the shop.

Why did you choose Espresso House?

- During my own visits to Espresso House, everything has always matched. The atmosphere of the store, the products and the team in the store always came across as very friendly and open. I always felt at ease. I had been enthusiastic about coffee and working as a barista for a long time anyway. So the opportunities for my own development in the form of the barista training have made it match even better! Above all, the team but also the workflow here at Espresso House makes me want to stay here!

What have you learned while working at Espresso House?

- I have learned how important it is to work in a team, to stick together and, above all, to have fun at work. In addition, I have gained a lot of knowledge about coffee - and everything that goes with it - through the barista training.

What is best about working at Espresso House?

- The best thing is to bring joy to the guests and a smile to the face with the smallest things - be it the latte art, conversations or simply a friendly greeting and a smile. Closely followed by the daily preparation of espresso specialties and the team, of course!

If you had to describe Espresso House with one word only, what would that be?

- Open-minded.
